The Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Community Development Department are hosting two public meetings regarding short-term rentals in Columbia. Presently, the City of Columbia does not tax or regulate short-term rentals beyond voluntary health and safety inspections. Public input is being sought to help determine if there is interest in extending business licensing requirements and the 5% hotel and motel sales tax to these properties. The dates of the meetings are as follows:
- Tuesday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m.
- Thursday, April 19 at 6:00 p.m.
Both meetings will be held at the Walton Building, 300 S. Providence Road. The meetings will consist of brief presentations followed by open discussion and questions with City staff. For more information, please visit the Convention and Visitor Bureau’s website
