MAA / NAA
When you join the Columbia Apartment Association, you are not only a member of our local group, but also a member of the Missouri Apartment Association and National Apartment Association. The NAA watches over all bills on a national level that pertain to apartment owners and lobby on behalf of all apartment owners in the country. They keep us well informed on any changes in laws or any new legislative information we need to pass on to our members. The MAA has a paid lobbyist at the state capitol.
Your membership offers you the opportunity to join and participate in the state and national meetings and education conferences and conventions, as well as enabling you to receive and participate in industry publications.
The primary responsibility of the Columbia Apartment Association is to keep abreast of city ordinances and the activities of the regulatory agencies that affect the operation of rental housing organizations. The association promotes the best interests of the multi-housing industry through legislation on a local, state and national basis. Through your affiliation with the Missouri and National Apartment Association your voice in the Legislature and Congress will be heard not only fighting poor legislation but in proposing good legislation.
The CAA works with local government regarding local zoning ordinances, building codes, city and county tax issues, rent control, occupancy permits and mandatory trash pick-up and other issues that may develop with implementation of Tax Reform.
Our association, along with the MAA and NAA, work together to stop or promote legislation as needed. Together these associations make up a great coalition of apartment owners and managers in Missouri. You can find out more about these associations by visiting:
The CAA has gained respect from the community, City Council and many other organizations, agencies, associations and societies through continued community involvement.
MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS & NETWORKING
The CAA provides a platform for exchanging ideas and information with other owners and managers. Opportunities arise to mix socially and for education with those who have similar business interests. This allows communication with fellow members for advice and/or assistance. The CAA meets 8 times per year on the second Tuesday of each month, except for the months of June, July, August and December. Please see our calendar for details of meeting times and locations.
